Hugo clears his throat. “It just so happens that today is Agent Reiter’s return to work after a year of health leave to recover both physically and mentally from the injury. He’s on his way here now, and it would be best to be sensitive to how this may have affected him...”
Hector nods. “Of course, my boy, I’m sure we all know how important it is to treat this situation delicately and not offend Agent Reiter with any crass remarks...” He turns as the door opens and Vy walks in. “Vy!” he greets with a impish laugh. “It’s good to see most of you!”
Hugo groans and looks at Lupita who pats his arm sympathetically.
“Hector!" Vy waves back. "Good to see you haven’t dropped dead yet, ya old man.” Vy walks up to the group, nodding at Hugo and Lupita. “Nice seeing you two again. You too, Minerva.” He glances at Minerva and then down at Claudia. “Agent Savage. It’s been a while. How’s Agent Snogger?”
“She’s good,” Claudia says. “Said to give you a fucking earful if you’ve been causing problems without her.”
Vy grins. “Well, I am a chaos agent.”
“The worst,” Hugo grumbles.
“He does get results, Hugo,” Lupita reminds.
“I’ll say,” Roman cuts in. Vy freezes and stiffly turns towards Roman, looking up at a warm, friendly face. Roman is torn between offering a handshake — no, too formal — or a hug — no, too familiar — and so stands there awkwardly instead. “So, you’re the man who found me, huh?” He chuckles, though his nervousness comes across very clearly as he adds “I’ve had people who didn’t like the look of my art before, but no one’s ever been blinded just by seeing me.”
